We are excited to announce the implementation of the second phase of the improvement programme taking place at Exmouth Tennis & Fitness Centre.
Following the refurbishment of the courts last year, East Devon District Council (EDDC) has agreed the funding to replace the roof above these courts this year as part of the EDDC’s leisure strategy, to help look after the tennis facilities across East Devon.
Whilst this work will cause some disruption, the end result will be a dramatic improvement in the tennis playing experience we will be able to offer. Alongside the roof replacement we will be upgrading the lighting and following member feedback, investigating ventilation improvements.
The scaffolding will be erected w/c 1st July with roof works beginning on 15th July. There will be a full closure of courts 1 – 4, Monday 17th – 21st June and a further closure in mid-November. The works on the roof will be phased keeping as many of the four Proflex courts available as we safely can with a view to fully reopening the courts at the start of December.
The Tennis Centre will remain open throughout the works and with the gym, cafe, acrylic and outdoor courts remaining in use. Courts 1 – 4 will be impacted by the works and will have limited availability. We will be working with the contractors to minimise the disruption and keep as many of the Proflex courts open as we can.
We are adapting the Tennis Programme to continue throughout the refurbishment works to ensure we can still offer all of our regular sessions as well as offering casual play.
We will not be accepting new Tennis members during this time to ensure we maximise court availability for our loyal members. Our PAYG option will remain in place throughout. If you would like to be contacted once tennis memberships return, please email us and we will get back in contact as soon as we can.
