We’re excited to announce the installation of a brand-new Pool Pod 2.0 at Exmouth Leisure Centre — a cutting-edge accessibility system designed to make entering and exiting the pool easier, safer, and more dignified for all users.
This upgrade has been made possible thanks to generous funding support from East Devon District Council, Exmouth Town Council, and Sport England. The installation reflects a shared commitment to inclusivity, wellbeing, and accessible sport across our community.
Originally developed for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Pool Pod 2.0 allows swimmers with reduced mobility, older adults, and those with disabilities to access the water independently — without needing traditional ladders or hoists.
“We’re committed to making swimming more inclusive for everyone in our community,” said Emma Kessie, Leisure Manager at Exmouth Leisure Centre. “The new Pool Pod is an important step toward ensuring everyone can enjoy the benefits of being active in the water.”
The Pool Pod was installed on Wednesday 28th May 2025, our staff will be trained and ready to assist anyone who would like to use it. Whether you’re returning to swimming after an injury or looking for a more comfortable way to enter the pool, we’re here to help. LED Community Leisure is committed to its mission to help people feel better and get more out of life.
Come down and see the new system in action — and take the plunge with confidence.
