Why Coming to the Gym for Exercise is Beneficial

Woman at the gym

Doing any form of exercise has many health benefits. But why is exercising in the gym, as opposed to outdoors or at home, such a good option?

Equipment and expertise

The facilities at LED Community Leisure are kitted out with all the necessary weights, cardio machines, and any other equipment you need to complete your workout and achieve your goals. Along with this, our team of fitness experts are on-hand to give you the advice and help you might need to get you to where you want to be.

Our leisure centres are hubs for like-minded people. Many friendships have been made here and we find those who train with a buddy enjoy their exercise more. Even just being in an environment where others are working out around you is much more motivating than having to get yourself up for a solo run or home workout.

Improve your chances of actually getting fit

A study in 2017 by Iowa University found that people who belonged to a gym had better cardiovascular and fitness outcomes than those who were not gym members. 75% of the participants with gym memberships met current health guidelines for recommended physical activity levels as opposed to only 18% of the non-members. Gym members were 14 times more aerobically active and 10 times more likely to meet muscle strengthening guidelines compared with non-members. These benefits appeared to increase in those who had their memberships for a year or longer.

Coming to the gym to work out means you don’t have to deal with the distractions you will encounter at home. You may be more likely to stay committed to a program if you make attending the gym part of your regular routine rather than trying to fit exercise in at home around everything else you are doing. Finding a few hours in your week to attend the gym might seem difficult at times but the benefits are endless and it may even add years to your life.

From personalised programmes and PT sessions to nutrition consultations and InBody composition testing, the gyms at LED are here to support you. So why not discuss your goals with one of our knowledgeable trainers and find out how they can help you achieve them.
