Whilst many activities can be accessed free with our Unlimited Membership or Holiday Passes, “Pay and Play” customers and visitors are also welcome.

Swimming Events

We run various events per year for both our public swimmers and members of our swim school. These include swim school galas and junior aquathlons, swimathons, introductory triathlons and more.

Next events: Christmas Swim School Galas, 13th December (Sidmouth) and 20th December (Exmouth) 2025.

Public & Family Swim

Lane Swimming. Swim For All. Fun Splash. Classes

Here at LED we have 25 metre swimming pools at 3 of our leisure centres at Exmouth, Honiton and Sidmouth.

The pools are open from early in the morning until late at night to try and make sure you can get in the water whenever you want to! We run a number of courses, club programmes and exercise classes that may impact on your time in the pool so make sure you check the timetables or call your local centre before you pack your goggles and come down

As part of our commitment to getting children swimming from the outset, little ones aged under 3 can come along to a public swimming session for FREE! In addition to this, we also offer a fantastic swimming lesson programme that will take your child as far as they want to swim!

Learn to Swim

Essential. Experienced. Swim England Approved

Learning how to swim is not just a valuable life-saving skill. Whether you live near the coast or not, swimming offers numerous benefits that extend beyond leisure. Equipping oneself with swimming abilities can instill confidence and reduce the fear of water, making it safer to enjoy aquatic activities.

Swimming is an inclusive, social activity that fosters connections with other local people of all ages and abilities. Joining swimming lessons offers a chance to meet new people, build teamwork skills, and compete in a friendly environment.

Learning how to swim is a valuable investment in one’s safety, health, and overall well-being. It offers a fun and effective way to stay active, gain confidence, and connect with others. So, whether you’re a child or an adult, it’s never too late to dive in and embrace the many benefits of swimming.

We offer a comprehensive range of swimming lessons and sessions for all abilities and age groups, including baby lessons and adult swimming lessons.

Other Swim Activities

We offer a great range of sessions for the public across our swimming pools.

The pool is split into slow, medium and fast lanes for all abilities of lane swimmer. Note lanes may be single or double width.

The pool is split halfway, with half of the pool available for lane swimming and half the pool open for all ages abilities and aquatic activities. Inflatables not permitted, but swim aids are more than welcome.

All customers are reminded to check-in at reception on arrival.

LED’s Fun Splash sessions do exactly what they say on the tin! Insane inflatable madness, floats and swimming toys galore – it’s the best way to make swimming unbelievable fun! 8+ on the inflatable.

If you are already swimming laps of the pool but want to train for a specific event such as a triathlon, or build fitness, then our coached SwimFit sessions will be the better fit for you.

Public swimming in the learner pool (available at Exmouth only). This pool is shallower and perfect for babies and younger children.

LED’s aqua classes offer a cardio and conditioning, pool based workout that gets your muscles working against the resistance of the water – elevating the heart rate and burning those calories. We also run parent and baby aquafit (Exmouth only) suitable for parents to bring their little ones along to!

LED are proud to say that our pools at Exmouth, Sidmouth and Honiton are all Swim England Water Wellbeing Accredited, demonstrating our commitment to accessible changing and pool facilities, inclusive and varied pool timetables and suitable sessions for people with long term health conditions.

Good Boost is a 45 minute swimming pool based therapy session designed to improve mobility, increase strength and reduce pain. All LED pools are Swim England Water Wellbeing accredited, demonstrating our commitment to offering full inclusive and accessible swimming sessions.

We now run Good Boost classes at all of our pools. These facilitator led classes use AI technology to create 100% personalized workouts tailored to your needs – whether that be an injury, a long term health condition, an MSK condition, or other rehabilitation. Contact your local site for more information on session times. You can also obtain further information and self-refer yourself to a class by completing the enquiry form here.

With the coast right on our doorstep, we are pleased to be able to offer structured open water sessions for all abilities. Find out more on our Swim to the Sea pages.

Weekly Pool Timetables

These timetables are a visual tool to help you plan your swim. If you wish to book in advance, please use the app or the list format of the timetable below. We still happily accept walk-ins.

Swimming Timetable

Please note, the below timetable shows all remaining sessions that have yet to start. It will not show a session that is currently taking place. Therefore we encourage you to view the static timetables above in conjunction with the list timetable that shows below.

Where a session is called “swim for all arrival time” this is simply to allow you to book in advance – you can stay in as long as you like (until a pool closure, for example due to our swimming lessons). These are sometimes in 15 or 30 minute slots simply so that the sessions do not drop off the list below – you can of course stay in for longer if the timetable allows.

Gymnastics

Gymnastics at LED

Devon Gymnastics has been working with LED Community Leisure for over 25 years offering fun, progressive recreational gymnastics for children from 2 years through to adults. Our classes are run by qualified coaches with the support of assistant coaches and CIT volunteers(coaches in training). Our team offer supportive, dynamic sessions catering for all abilities, covering a range of skills to help build the fundamentals of gymnastics right through to more complex competitive skills. Whether you are stating or returning on your gymnastics journey there can be a lot of questions from children, parents & participants. Please see our overview below.

Where are sessions located:
At present our sessions take place at Exmouth & Sidmouth Leisure Centre.
Exmouth runs Mondays & Saturdays
Sidmouth runs Mondays & Thursdays

How do we book:
For Sidmouth sessions this can be booked via the app, at reception or by calling 0800 228 9076, these are booked first come first served, places are limited.
Exmouth currently has a waiting list for classes, to be added to our waiting list please send an email to: devongymnastics@gmail.com where an auto reply will ask for more information.

What should you wear/bring:
We ask gymnasts to attend ready for activity with PE style clothes. Leotards / t shirts, leggings and shorts are all suitable. We ask for NO denim, crop tops or jewellery for health, safety & hygiene. Socks are optional. We do have club clothing & leotards but these are optional to purchase and are currently available at our Exmouth site.

Can Spectators Watch:
At our Sidmouth location there are benches located to the side of the main hall where the class takes place. We ask that spectators keep noise to a minimum and not to approach the mats when sessions are running. At Exmouth we do not have spectators in our weekly sessions but we do run parent watch weeks at the end of term and gymnasts can be seen through windows during the sessions.

Awards
As part of our program we follow a national gymnastics Award scheme, this is incorporated into our weekly sessions where we constantly monitor and note there achievements. In addition to this we also run 1-2 assessment sessions a term to target specific areas and help complete a level. We also occasionally run Accelerate Awards which are sessions specifically focused on achieving a level/award.

Competitions & Progression
As a recreational club we realised not all gymnasts want to compete and often once they start on the journey many change there mind. We run annual events 2-3 times a year across our Exmouth & Sidmouth sites, these are open to all our gymnasts. We also have connections with a couple of clubs based in Devon who invite us along to friendly competitions and who also join us

Wellbeing Walks

Walking our Way to a Healthier Lifestyle

This is a scheme that has been introduced in East Devon to encourage people of all ages including those with health and mobility problems, and those recovering from illness, to walk for their health. These walks are led by qualified volunteer walk leaders, who have undergone the National Wellbeing Walk training.

These walks are a mixture of town and country walks and are aimed at those who are doing very little or no exercise at the moment, but who would like to become more active.

We are always looking for volunteers to support this amazing programme. Full training and support are provided. For more information email Lottie at outreach@ledleisure.co.uk
